HOT AND COLD STONE MASSAGE
This warm and soothing treatment involves a full body massage with the aid of water-heated basalt stones. The heat and energy of the stones help to de-stress, increase the blood supply, bring deeper relaxation, and balance physical and emotional health. To give a perfect balance to the treatment, I might also use cold stones to invigorate and to give a ‘little wake-up call’ after the deep warmth experience. A variation on this is thermotherapy, where I alternate the hot and cold stones to further stimulate and improve the blood circulation, particularly on the legs, relieving pain in some cases, and energising. Hot and cold stone massage is definitely an experience not to be missed!
MASSAGE FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH CANCER
This is a massage therapy for people living with cancer. It is a
treatment given with a comforting, gentle, supportive and mindful touch. It’s an opportunity to let yourself relax and give your body a soothing
and nurturing present. A time to be kind to yourself, reconnect with your body
and mind, and unwind. Cancer care massage can help to reduce anxiety and nausea, calm the mind,
and aid a good night’s sleep as well as helping you to ‘piece your body back
together’.With your first appointment there will be a detailed intake to help
determine which treatment plan is best for you. After the treatment there will
be a follow up call or email to check how you feel. This is important so that
we can work in a safe and comfortable way for you. For more detailed information about Cancer Care Massage, please check www.medicinehands.com - my mentor’s
website, Gayle MacDonald.
REFLEXOLOGY
This is a natural therapy designed to bring balanced health and well-being through stimulation of particular points on the feet. The whole of the feet are worked on with a gentle thumb and finger pressure technique with relaxing and healing effects. The feet reflect the body. This treatment is effective because the feet have numerous nerve endings – reflex points - which are related to other areas and organs in the body. By working and stimulating these, the nervous system is stimulated, which helps to rebalance the body’s systems. Reflexology has many benefits such as improving the digestive system, hormone imbalances, and fertility, aiding stress and sleeping problems, or simply to relax you if you have been on your feet the whole day! This treatment is done by working on your bare feet while you lie on a couch or sit in a recliner chair. |
